Parents views on schools meals sought
Parents are being invited
to give their views about a new school meals ‘toolkit’
intended to help improve the standard of school dinners.
The toolkit is the latest
step to encourage healthy eating in children and young
people and a key step in the government’s series of measures
to improve the provision of food in schools.
The plans include
additional funding to enable schools to spend more money on
lunches for pupils.
The draft toolkit, titled
Food in schools - a short guide for parents and carers,
has been introduced as part of this package to improve
school meals. The objective of this document is to inform
parents about the nutritional standards for food in schools
and how to take action if you have concerns about the
provision of food in your child's school.
The toolkit is due to be
published in the autumn. Parents are being invited to
provide any input before then, which will be used in the
writing of the final version.
